Announcement of Haxby Abbott as OARSI National Ambassador for New Zealand

The OARSI Strategic Alliance Committee (SAC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Haxby Abbott as OARSI National Ambassador for New Zealand.

Haxby Abbott, PhD, works as Research Professor in the Orthopaedic Surgery department and Director of the Centre for Musculoskeletal Outcomes Research (CMOR) at the University of Otago Medical School. An OARSI member since 2011, Haxby has attended many OARSI World Congresses and contributed as a co-author of the 2019 OARSI guidelines. He led efforts to establish the Osteoarthritis Aotearoa Research Network and to enhance collaboration among a wide range of disciplines related to osteoarthritis research, prevention and treatment in his country.

The SAC and OARSI leadership are pleased that Haxby is willing to take on this to increase OARSI membership and osteoarthritis research participation in New Zealand.
