Henning Madry,MD

Henning Madry MD is a clinician-scientist. He received his MD in 1996 from Humboldt University in Berlin. Dr. Madry was resident at the Department of Trauma Surgery, Charité Medical School, Berlin, the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Saarland University, and was board-certified in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2004. His postdoctoral research fellowships were at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard Medical School and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Since 2009, Dr. Madry is Director of the Center of Experimental Orthopaedics at Saarland University with a joint appointment in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He was a visiting professor at the Sorbonne Université Paris in 2018.

Henning Madry is Editor-in-Chief of O & C Open. His research program focuses on fundamental and translational aspects of osteoarthritis and cartilage repair, his continuing clinical practice includes regenerative surgical treatments for cartilage defects of the knee and osteoarthritis. Selected honors include the New Investigator Recognition Award of the Orthopaedic Research Society, the Space Act Award of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the AO Research Fund Prize of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthese.
