This forum was the first large-scale international meeting focusing on osteoarthritis in China. ‘The significance of having the 1st OARSI satellite meeting in China is absolutely enormous”, Joel Block, Editor-in-Chief of Osteoarthritis Cartilage, said to the media, “Asian societies are ageing, and osteoarthritis will be prominent across Asia over the next 20-30 years. OARSI has recognized the fact that for quite some time there have been nascent organizations in India, China and across Asia that have remained devoted to osteoarthritis treatment and research, I think they are going to become stronger and it’s part of OARSI’s mission to both foster those movements and encourage them to participate.”

The meeting concluded successfully on December 16, 2018 and enthusiastic responses were received from the attendees and a wide range of press and media at home and abroad. The Chair of the organizing committee, Prof Changhai Ding, and his Co-Chair, Prof Ali Mobasheri would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of this forum.
